Policies/Procedures

Every client is required to read and sign our  Policy Agreement prior to any grooming services being performed.

Vaccination

We require a current copy of your pet(s)s’ vaccination records. Rabies vaccination is required annually by the State of Connecticut. DHLP-Parvo & Bordetella (Kennel Cough) are recommended for the protection of your pet(s). This policy is strictly enforced. If no proof is provided, we will have to confirm vaccination with your Veterinarian BEFORE you leave your pet(s) at our facility.

You may either bring in a copy of records or email a copy to us at PetCare@roundofapawsct.com

Pet's Health

Your dog's safety and comfort is our primary concern. Please advise us of any allergies, sensitivities, or pre-existing medical conditions so we can avoid aggravating these situations. Please let us know of any prior grooming history you or your dog may not have found satisfactory. We want to avoid the repetition of poor or unpleasant experiences or situations.

Cancellation/No Show

Please provide a minimum of 48-hour cancellation/rescheduling notice.  Failure to do so will result in a charge equal to 50% of the reserved service amount.  We provide a 72 hour courtesy text message reminder in advance for your convenience.  We do understand that “life happens” and all fees will be at groomers discretion to the circumstances.

Flea & Tick

We do not accomodate dogs with fleas at this time.  If fleas are detected, we will stop the groom immediately. We recommend booking another appointment once your dog and home has been treated for fleas.

Grooming Salon

Puppies & Seniors

We want your puppy's first few visits to be as pleasant as possible and will make every effort to do so by starting with the most simple haircuts. Your puppy should enjoy grooming and, to encourage this, a puppy's first haircut is not guaranteed. If you teach your puppy some basic discipline and to be still for brushing, professional grooming will be much easier for both pet(s) and groomer. Tearless shampoo will be used for your puppy's safety.

We will use extra care and patience for older pet(s)s; however, we will not be held responsible for any reaction due to the mental or physical stress of grooming the geriatric pet(s). If, in our judgment, brushing or clipping is determined to cause too much stress to the pet(s), we will modify or discontinue the services. Please be sure to notify us of any health conditions that might make your pet(s) uncomfortable during the bathing, drying, or clipping phases.

Any grooming which takes place on an elderly or frail pet(s)/s is conducted at your risk

Matting

Dogs with severely matted coats require a significant amount of extra attention.  Mats cause the coat to grow tight and pull on/damage the skin. Mats can be very difficult to remove and may require the pet to be shaved. When necessary, removing a heavily matted coat includes risks of nicks, cuts, or abrasions due to warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet’s skin allowing mold, fungus, or bacteria to grow, causing skin irritations that existed prior to the grooming process. Torn skin from mats can also harbor maggots. After-effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions, and failure of the hair to re-grow.

Prevention is the best defense against matting, regular appointments every 4-8 weeks is recommended.

Accidents

While accidents are rare, there is always a risk while working with pets and grooming tools.  Our tools are sharp and although we use extreme caution in all situations, possible risks including nicks, cuts, scratches and quickening of nails can occur.  In most cases, this is when a pet is wiggling around.  In the circumstance that an accident does occur, We will contact you immediately to notify of the accident.  In the event of serious injury, the pet will be taken to the nearest available veterinarian for treatent.

Satisfaction

Your satisfaction is important to us.  If there is anything you are unhappy with and would like to have adjusted please let us know at time of pickup.  We will be more than happy to make any adjustments you’d like.  You will have a 24 hour window to let us know if there’s any adjustments that need to be made.  Beyond that all return visits will be treated as a new appointment and will be charged accordingly.
